Imagine being told that who you are—your disability, your neurotype, or another defining characteristic—was something to be fixed, hidden, or quietly managed. That your differences were problems, and that you had to bear them alone, in silence.
This is the reality for many people who are shut out of events, spaces, jobs, media, and more—simply because no one took a moment to ask: Who might be missing out on this experience, and why?
For those of us who have been excluded for much of our lives, being truly seen, valued, and meaningfully included is transformative. In these moments, joy becomes possible.
If you’d like to hear more about my journey and the deeper motivation behind this work, I invite you to press play on the video below.
My journey has been shaped by a diverse range of personal and professional experiences, each contributing to the empathy-led approach I bring to my work today.
I grew up in a multi-generational household with family members navigating disabilities, mental health challenges, and neurodiversity. In this environment, I became skilled at mediating tensions and attuning to others’ verbal and non-verbal cues to meet their needs while preserving their dignity. While some might see this as extreme, these early lessons have been invaluable in shaping how I work today.
As an adult, I’ve moved fluidly between cultural contexts—from attending Indian cultural events to adapting to a predominantly white neighborhood and school, and later migrating from the US to the UK, where I learned to navigate yet another set of social and cultural landscapes.
This adaptability is reflected in my professional background as well. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from New Mexico Tech and a Master of Arts in English – Rhetoric and Professional Writing from the University of New Mexico. I’ve also trained in Bharata Natyam, a traditional Indian dance form rooted in storytelling, and studied hand analysis for several years.
Over the past decade, I’ve worked internationally across education, government, and cultural sectors, helping organizations improve accessibility, inclusivity, and social impact.
In short, my personal and professional journey is rich in diversity, and this diversity deeply informs my empathy-led practice. In short, my personal and professional journey is rich in diversity, and this diversity deeply informs my empathy-led practice.
